BigBlueStuff coaching and facilitation is appropriate for teams when:
Typically: High Performing Teams This may include teams who are faced with the challenge of pursuing new initiatives, changes in strategy or the need to sustain performance at the highest level. The high performing team is one that can often be overlooked in an organisation and where a clear analogy with the world of sport is valid. High performing teams in the sports arena work consistently with coaches to ensure they maintain their position at the top. Performance coaching combined with a high performing team’s desire to be the best can be effective in sustaining this momentum. The key is not to over-coach, but to enable the team to fully utilise its combined skills all of the time. Emerging Teams This focuses on newly formed or ‘forming’ teams or working groups who are brought together to achieve specific project or business objectives. Using cutting edge engagement tools, including LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ (LSP), facilitates a faster, yet deeply meaningful journey through the stages of team formation as depicted by Tuckman’s forming, storming, norming, performing (adjourning), for example. A team’s formation is often critical in creating its future success. Stuck Teams These are teams that may need to re-energise and refocus on the delivery of key business objectives and where the individuals need to work collaboratively, effectively and supportively in order to deliver the required outcomes for the business. It may also be that the team is just out of ideas - it needs to galvanise itself with new ways of thinking about and approaching problems or issues. Often success for a ‘stuck’ team or group is closer at hand than they think. It requires a process to facilitate the team accessing its collective potential and change its perspective so as to see the issue from another point of view. BigBlueStuff has found that one way to address this problem is to take the intact team out of the environment where it needs to perform and help it change perspective. BigBlueStuff does this because it can be the case that the barriers to improved performance are often embedded in the environment where teams need to perform the most.
